Ole Søndergaard is a sentient person living in a world of his very own that enriches, challenges and excites him. Ole’s work communicates a recognition of the wonders of nature and his desire to explore the core of his own joy and humility. Through his depiction of what he sees and experiences, Ole is able to further approximate the sentiment and excitement, creating an almost matrimonial bond of emotions between the work and himself.

His excitement is almost tangible as he depicts centuries-old ceramic ornamentations that he has seen and experienced on his many travels in the Middle East. He expresses these visual impressions through his own work as a tribute to the artwork of earlier times. His excitement is unmistakable, and you sense his communication with the creative powers of the past.

Ole Søndergaard expresses himself through watercolors, acrylics and sculpting.
He clearly explores the possibilities for representing visual and emotional impressions in each media that he employs, continuously engaging the subject that he has identified as a model for whatever theme he is currently absorbed in and only ceasing once he has examined every possibility for communicating his sights and experiences.

Being in physical contact with his chosen media – often woodcarving, paintbrushes, paints and paper – is obviously a necessity and a delight to the artist and satisfies Ole’s joy and fascination with the craft.

So what is it that Ole Søndergaard opens up and presents us with through his work?

In his unmistakable joy in passing on
his own experiences to us, you sense a desire for communication, a figurative conversation with the spectator. Ole’s joy
is the opportunity for communication, which has the potential to open the door
to our own personal experience and excitement. Through Ole’s fine artworks, we have an opportunity to intensify our own visual and emotional experiences.
